Allemende). - 21 Résistants morts au combat contre l'occupant. PASSANT Ils sont morts pour ta liberté, recueille-toi et dépose une fleur des champs. Au fond de ce cimetière, respectant leur dernière volonté, ont été dispersées les cendres de certains de nos camarades de combat, parachustistes Britaniques du Spécial Air Service (S.A.S.) et anciens du Maquis Bernard. Cabanes du Maquis

Français : (1) - Dans ces bois à été aménagé en mars 1944 le deuxième emplacement du Maquis Bernard après celui de St BRISSON en 1943. Constitué de 2 cabanes en rondins, pourvues de meurtrières. Le camps s'étendra rapidement avec cuisine, infirmerie puis central téléphonique relié clandestinement au réseau P.T.T. Il devriendra le P.C. du maquis et recevra le P.C. départemental F.F.I. du Colonel ROCHE et les services de la préfecture de la résistance, le Préfet Robert JACQUIN. Les effectifs, de 25 en mai passeront à 64 en juin, 350 en juillet et 1 200 hommes en septembre. Le 19 mai 1944, aux morvandiaux se joignent les "parisiens" du réseau TURMA-VENGEANCE décimé en région parisienne. Ils forment la compagnie ANDRÉ près du camp des S.A.S. britaniques et sont à l'origine de l'équipe chirurgicale des maquis crée par Alec PROCHIANTZ, interne des hôpitaux de Paris, qui opéra les blessés et apporta son assistance aux habitants. (3) - Reconstruction d'une cabane (été 2002) De nombreuses cabanes avaient été élevées à l'époque qui serviraient à abriter une bonne partie des combattants (certains couchaient sous des tentes faites en toiles de parachute), mais aussi pour l'indendance, cuisine, infirmerie, hôpital. Un projet de construction d'une cabane à l'identique a été décidé. Pour cela , les anciens du maquis avaient émis le désir de faire participer les jeunes afin de sensibiliser les esprits et de perpétuer ainsi le souvenir de l'élan patriotique qui avait poussé les jeunes et moins jeunes à se dresser devant l'ennemi. Les adolescents de la maison des jeunes d'Ouroux, on tout de suite accepté et offert leur participation à ce projet. Une cabane à été érigée, faite de rondins de sapins avec ses protections et ses meurtrières. Le toit fut recouvert de terre et de fougères qui à l'époque les dissimulaient des éventuels survols d'avions.		English : (1) - In this wood in march 1944, the second Maquis Bernard site was installed after the St BRISSON site of 1943. Made up of 2 log cabins provided with a cookhouse, first aid post and later a telephone exchange underhandedly linked to the post office network. It was to become the Maquis H.Q. and to receive the departemental F.F.I. H.Q. of Colonel ROCHE and the services of the resistance prefecture, Prefect Robert JACQUIN. The strenght increased from 25 in may to 64 in june, 350 in july and 1 200 in september. On the 19th of may 1944, the "morvandiaux" were joined by the "parisiens" of the TURMA-VENGEANCE network decimated in the Paris aera. They established the ANDRE Company close to the British S.A.S. camp and were the founder members of the resistance surgical team set up by Alec PROCHIANTZ house surgeon at the Paris hospitals, who operated on the injured and helped the local inhabitants. (2) - Photos of the cabin. (3) - Reconstruction of a cabin (summer 2002) It was decided to build an identical cabin to these. To do this, the "ex-maquisards" (ex-french resistance) wanted young people to be involved in order to increase their awareness of this period and perpetuate the memory of patriotic fervour which stimulated both young and not so young to stand up and face the enemy. Teenagers from the Ouroux youth club immediately agreed and offered to help with this project. A pine log cabin was built complete with protection and loopholes. The roof was covered with earth and ferns which, at the time, served as camouflage in the event of overflying aircraft.

(2) - A l'intérieur de ce bois était L'HOPITAL CHIRURGICAL inter-maquis du Dr MARTELL (Alec Prochiantz) construit en juillet 1944, il comptait 25 lits, 1 salle d'opération, une salle de radiologie. Un groupe électrogène fournissait le courant électrique. Une équipe chirurgicale mobile opérait sur le lieu des combats jusqu'à 60 km. 60 malades hospitalisés, 98 opérations pratiquées, 14 décès. (2) - Inside this wood was the inter-maquis SURGICAL HOSPITAL run by Doctor MARTELL (Alec Prochiantz) built in july 1944, it had 25 beds, 1 operation room, 1 x-ray room. A power unit supplied electrical current. A mobile surgical team operated in the fighting zone up to 60 km. 60 patients were admited, 98 interventions took place, 14 deceaded. Français : (1) - Devant vous "LE CAMP DES ANGLAIS". Derrière vous, de l'autre côté de la route, la carrière où se trouvait leur dépôt de munition. Ici de juin à septembre 1944 bivouaquèrent une quarantaine de parachutistes anglais du célèbre 1^er Régiment S.A.S. Ils combattirent avec nous pour notre liberté. NOUS N'OUBLIRONS PAS. Equipé d'un émetteur récepteur de guidage des avions, l'axe était balisé par 3 phares d'auto sur batterie. En juillet et août 1944 il reçut 12 parachutages nocturnes : hommes, jeeps et 6 canons de 57. Mais aussi, armes, munitions, essence, et médicaments ausitôt évacués par les charrettes à boeufs des habitants du voisinage.		English : (1) - The BERNARD camp. (2) - A Bivouac. (3) - It at the bottom of this valley that our third dropping zone was situaded. Code name "FINE". It was equiped with a two ways radio to guide the aircraft, the axis was outlined by 3 car headlamps working on battery. In july and august, this site received 12 night parachutages : men, jeeps, 6 pounder guns as arms, ammunition, petrol, and medical supplies. All these were immediately evacuaded by the neighbouring farmers with their oxen carts.

Le régime nazi allemand exterminait : les juifs, les tziganes, les patriotes français. Il fallait se soumettre ou se battre, NOUS NOUS SOMMES BATTUS ! Le 24 juin 1944, de l'autre côté de cette route, 8 parachustistes anglais du S.A.S. et 16 maquisards du MAQUIS BERNARD tendent une embuscade. Vers 21h00 quatre véhicules allemands avec une cinquantaine d'hommes y tombent. Une heure après nous avions fait 3 prisonniers, pris 23 armes et mis hors de combat une trentaine d'Allemands. Le Maquis déplorait la mort de Jacques CHATAIGNEAU. PASSANT, il est mort POUR TA LIBERTÉ !		English : (1) - Photo of the place of the ambush on 24th of june 1944. On the 24th of june 1944, on the other side of this road, 8 english parachutists of the S.A.S. and 16 men of the MAQUIS BERNARD laid an ambush. At about 21.00 hrs four German vehicles with about fifty Germans fell in. An hour later we had made 3 prisonners, taken 23 arms and put out thirty Germans. The Maquis mourned the dead of Jacques CHATAIGNEAU. PASSER BY, he died FOR YOUR FREEDOM !
